Our Story

Family. Fun. Community.

My family, like many of yours, has always loved railroads. Flip through any photo album and you’ll find zoo trains, tourist trains, train museums, Brio trains or Polar Express Christmas rides. We used to live in Collier’s Hill overlooking Coal Creek Park and the historic trestle bridge crossing the bike path. During COVID, Grandpa Bob was teaching levers to our kids. He looked out at the railroad tracks in the open space and thought it could be fun to build a hand cart that would roll on the rails to show how levers can power transportation. We started researching and discovered there were 20+ operators running railbike tours as a fun family activity and use for historic railroad tracks. We dug in further to the history of the Denver Boulder Valley Railroad tracks here in Erie and realized there is a historically significant story that needs to be told about Erie’s origins. Railbiking has become our ‘vehicle’ to tell this story through an outdoor recreational activity and gathering space.

Colorado Railbike Adventures combines lots of things that our family loves— outdoor adventures, family and community. We’ve built this business on these values and a desire to share the past, present and future of our lovely little town Erie with you and yours. Come experience a new kind of adventure on the historic rails here in Erie Colorado!
